Less than two weeks! Thirteen days and we are off! I'm NOT who most people would call a "seasoned" traveler. I haven't flown since way before 911, so it's no longer as simple as it once was. TSA rules was a learning experience. And why is it so difficult to get the personal products that I use in "travel size"?
Dee tells me that she can get everything I will need packed into my carry-on and backpack. This will be interesting. (No checked luggage to avoid that hassle at LAX)
We hope to have a fairly quick transition from the airport to our rental car. Then off to Target (it appears to be the most convenient place to stop) to buy a few things we want for the trip. Definitely a nice cooler for water and some refreshing drinks. We also plan to keep some cold cuts available for those times when a meal isn't convenient or we want to get to the next attraction in a hurry.
Santa Monica Pier will be where we begin the official Rt. 66 excursion. There are many things to see there, but we have a hotel booked in California away from the craziness of L.A. and can't loiter too long there. Hopefully the traffic will be minimal once we get on our two lane Rt. 66!
There are so many places, monuments, attractions, diners and miscellaneous crazy things to see. We would need a few more weeks to experience them all. (There is a barb wire museum that Dee thinks is silly, we will be stopping. SHHHH! don't tell her)
Ok, that's all for now. If there is anything any of you want us to include, let us know please. We will do our best to squeeze it in!
Dan
